# Let AI buy a domain for you

You can ask Claude, ChatGPT or Codex to come up with names, check which domains can still be registered, compare first-year and renewal prices, and then buy it for you. The AI can only pay with the card you saved in your console, up to a spending limit; it never sees the card number and can't add or change a card.

## 1. Connect Nymwell

Nymwell runs an MCP server that lets AI tools search domains and prices directly. There are two addresses:

**claude.ai or Claude Desktop**

1. Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
2. Paste `https://nymwell.com/mcp/account`.
3. On the Nymwell page that opens, sign in with Google and choose Allow.

**ChatGPT**

Add a connector in developer mode with the address `https://nymwell.com/mcp/account` and OAuth as the authentication.

**Claude Code and Codex**

In Claude Code, run `/mcp` afterwards and choose Authenticate.

## 2. Just ask

Once it's connected, ask the way you normally would:

> Find me a short .com for a coffee roasting brand, list the ones I can register, and show the first-year and renewal price for each.

The AI checks live availability and prices on Nymwell and lists the options. Once you choose:

- **Without signing in over MCP**, the AI gives you a buy link such as `https://nymwell.com/buy?domain=yourbrand.com`. Open it, sign in with Google, check the price and pay.
- **Signed in over MCP**, the AI can quote and place the order. If the workspace has a saved card and the amount is within the agent spending limit (by default US$100 per order and US$500 per 30 days), it pays with that card; with no card, or over the limit, the AI hands you the checkout link. Before the first purchase the workspace needs a registrant (who the domain is registered to); add it in the console or ask the AI to.

After payment the domain registers on its own, and the AI can follow the order until it's done.

## 3. What the AI can and can't do

The AI acts as the person who connected it, with that person's role, and everything it does is in the audit log. To have AI changes wait for your approval, or to change the spending limit, go to Settings; you can disconnect an AI tool at any time on the AI agents & API page.

## Questions

**Do I need a Nymwell account first?**
Not to search. To buy, sign in with Google; the first sign-in creates your account.

**Could the AI buy something on its own?**
It orders what you ask for, and it can only pay with your saved card within the limit; over the limit or without a card it hands you the checkout link. To pay for every order yourself, set the agent spending limit to 0 in Settings.

**Is buying through an AI more expensive?**
No. Prices are the same as on the website, and connecting over MCP costs nothing.

**Can the AI also connect the domain to my site?**
Yes. Vercel, Netlify, GitHub Pages, Cloudflare Pages, Agent Lab Deploy and Google Workspace have presets: choose one when you buy and it's set up after payment. After that the AI can change DNS directly, or the changes wait for your approval if Settings asks for it.
